JOURNEY TO AFRICA, ASIA, AND THE AMERICAS WITH SUMMER SAFARI
2000 AT THE BRONX ZOO July to September
- Presented by PEPSI
Pack your binoculars, compass,
camera, and backpack because the Bronx Zoo is going to take you
on a Summer Safari with six special event weekends from July to
September. Summer Safari 2000 blends cultural
entertainment through music and dance with wildlife from around
the world and crafts for kids. Intrepid travelers will journey
to the American west, China, India, South America, and Africa --
all without leaving the Bronx.
Each Summer Safari 2000 weekend is
themed for a different area where the Bronx Zoo-based Wildlife
Conservation Society (WCS) has a leadership role in saving
wildlife.
On the weekend of Saturday July 29 and Sunday
July 30, the Bronx Zoo's Education Department will also hold
their third annual SPARKS (Supporting Parents in Advocacy,
Reform, and Knowledge in Science) family science fair. This
program shows how science can be fun for the whole family with
hands-on activities throughout the park. And on Saturday August
12, children are invited to join a member of the New York Mets
for special storytelling as part of the "Discover 2000 ...
Read!" summer reading clubs of the Queens, Brooklyn, and
New York Public Libraries.
